Origin: Shizuoka and Mie
Profile: Genmai means roasted brown rice. Genmaicha is roasted brown rice added to Japanese green tea. Often served with sushi or Japanese restaurants. Most popular in Japanese homes.
We have first blended our tea and rice and double milled into a smooth powder.
To enhance quality, taste, aroma performance, we have used gyokuro green tea and milled it into powder form. Gyokuro is the superior of all Japanese sencha green tea, usually not a tea we would use for genmai-cha.
Unique point: We are the only tea manufacturer in Japan that adjust the steaming and roasting times of our teas to suit the countries we export to. We have double milled our genmaicha to suit Australian hard water. Our genmaicha uses “Gyokuro” green tea leaves which produces umami notes and gives a beautiful emerald green
Tasting Notes: popcorn like, roasted aroma, mild umami
Servings: approx 10-15. (1 teaspoon per drink)
Uses: beverage, icecream making, baking/dessert
How to make genmaicha latte: Use 1 level matcha spoon (2.5g) add 30ml hot water (70c) and whisk using our bamboo chasen to dissolve, then add your preffered hot milk. Add sugar/honey/vanilla syrup to sweeten to your liking!
